Salt of the Earth bakes bread the old-fashioned way, in our restaurant bakery in the small town of Fennville, Michigan. Led by Artisan Baker Carla Wagner and Chef Pietsch, our talented bakery team has created a line of Artisan bread products that have become increasing popular since our beginnings. Salt of the Earth Artisan bakers use the traditional method of slow fermentation of flour and water to coax out the full flavor of wheat. Turned and shaped by hand, the dough is placed in the wood-fired oven and baked to a rich, brown color to impart more complexity in the final flavor. When ready, the loaves are removed from the oven and maintain a golden and rustic texture and appearance.
